    The Death Of John
    - Marek Shalom - 06/02/98

This song pertains to the bizarre circumstances that surrounded John Lennon's death. The murderer, mentally ill Mark David Chapman, thought that he was a character from J. D. Salinger's famous/infamous book 'The Catcher in the Rye'. Leading up to the murder Chapman went through a series of scene re-enactments, and he also performed a satanic rite to give him 'strength' after his first murder attempt failed.

Fundamentally the song is a tribute to John. A visit to the wall outside Abbey Road studios in London will make it clear that John's memory 'will live on'.

'The Death Of John' was recorded on a 4 track a year or two ago, and has a fairly raw, live sound.

Listen to 'The Death Of John' in streaming RealAudio format. If you can't get a good connection, or if you have an older version of RealPlayer (ie anything before version 5.0), then you can download it and then play it.

Download RealPlayer If you don't have RealPlayer 5.0 then you get one from the RealAudio site.

If you're interested, some good info about John can be found at Yahoo!. Also, feel free to email Marek Shalom if you have any questions or comments.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the tune. Be sure to use the 'Backchat' facility on this page to pass on your comments... and does anyone out there know of some obscure bits of Lennon trivia?
